The Johnstown Navan Ukraine Appeal

The Johnstown Navan Ukraine Appeal have been put in touch with Poland’s largest charity Caritas by Fr Janusz in Navan.The founding member of the appeal Gillian Lindsay Doonan has been in touch with the charity in Poland.

Gillian asked the charity what they needed most to cater for the thousands of Ukrainian refugees crossing the border into Poland and being looked after by Caritas.

We need volunteers to sort and pack items and staff the unit between 9am and 9pm from Thursday 17th of March until we depart.

Medical Aid Needed:

  • Bandages
  • Needles
  • Oxygen Masks
  • Oxygen
  • Trauma Kits
  • Equipment for Surgery
  • Resusitation Equipment
  • Sterile Wipes
  • Infusion pumps
  • Traumatic wound care- stitches sutures etc
  • Catheters
  • Central lines
  • Pain killers
  • Gloves all sizes
  • Blood clothing gauze
  • Incontinent pads all sizes
  • Refrigerated medication – diabetes

Adult Aid Needed:

  • Coats
  • Thermal Socks all sizes
  • Thermal vests all sizes
  • Underwear all sizes
  • Scarves
  • Hats
  • Gloves all sizes
  • Flip Flops all sizes for standing in showers

Children’s Aid Needed:

  • Thermal Socks all sizes
  • Thermal vests all sizes
  • Underwear all sizes
  • Baby food
  • Baby bottles
  • Plastic toys, books, jigsaws, bubbles, crayons

Other Aid Needed:

  • Thermal Blankets
  • Towels
  • Batteries all sizes
  • Power banks for phones
  • Flash lights
  • Deodorant
  • Soap
  • Tooth paste and tooth brushes

Food Aid Needed:

NON PERISHABLE ONLY

  • Soups
  • Pastas
  • Rice
  • Sauces

  • Honey Biscuits
  • Tea & Coffee

  • Cereals & Bars
  • Porridge
  • Custards

If you can start to gather the above items at home or with your local soccer gaa or rugby team or your local schools it will be much appreciated. We have an international transport company on board who are providing a truck and driver and paying for the transport costs to the charity in Poland. We will be announcing the dates shortly when we will have a trailer parked in the Johnstown Shopping Centre in Navan over a couple of days where you can drop off donations.Please share our page and get the word out there about the appeal in aid of the refugees from the war in Ukraine.
